PharmAlliance celebrated a major achievement at the 83rd International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress in Copenhagen, where a collaborative student project earned the Best Poster Presentation Award in the Academic Pharmacy Section.

The award-winning poster, Leveraging AI as a Tool in Assessment and Evaluation for PharmD Student Verbal Clinical Simulations, was authored by Jack Cullen, Jesse Dodgshun Lindsay, Prianka Maharaj, Nat Sist, Felicity Xu, Dr. Kathryn A. Fuller, and Dr. Kathryn A. Morbitzer.

The students completed their placement as interns at the Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research (CIPhER) at The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill. Their research explored the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in evaluating verbal clinical simulations (VCS) performed by first-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students, comparing assessments between large language models and human evaluators.

Their findings, presented at FIP’s global stage, stood out among international submissions and earned recognition in the Academic Pharmacy Section.

This success highlights the impact of PharmAlliance’s decade-long commitment to fostering global collaboration. Over the past ten years, more than 200 students have exchanged between UNC, UCL, and Monash University to complete placements, lab visits, and sabbaticals. These opportunities, supported through international partnership, empower our future pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists to contribute meaningfully to research and education while strengthening the global scientific community.
