Congratulations to everyone who participated and assisted the 2021 International Case Competition! The International Case Competition, or ICC, is a PharmAlliance led competition for student pharmacists held annually in March. The virtual competition is between the three PharmAlliance schools of pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), University College London (UCL), and Monash University. This year, UNC PharmAlliance Student Domain ICC Co-Leads hosted the competition, which was focused on Holistic Medicine. Complementary and alternative medicine is growing in popularity in each country and is a relevant topic that can be applied to almost any niche of pharmacy.
This year 16 teams competed, comprised of 4-5 student pharmacists with at least one student from each school. Participation was at an all-time high this year with a record breaking 67 student participants! The case described two patient scenarios focused on holistic therapies. Teams had a total of 2 weeks to connect with each other, create a written response, and create a video response that addressed the patient scenario of their choice.
Responses reflected the creativity and hard work of the participants. Faculty judges scored the video and written portions based on the student-developed rubrics that were tailored to the case. The ICC varies each year in structure and topic and is always a great way to connect and learn with student pharmacists around the globe!
Congratulations to our winners!!!
